Panther (designated as Sd.Kfz. 171) is the common name of a medium tank deployed by Nazi Germany in World War II from mid-1943 until the end of the European War in 1945. It was intended as a Soviet counterattack T - 34, and as a replacement for the Panzer III and Panzer IV. Although it never replaced the latter, it served alongside it and the heavier Tiger tanks until the end of the war. The Panther's excellent combination of firepower, mobility and protection served as a benchmark for late-war and post-war tank designs of other nations, and is considered one of the best tanks of World War II. .
The Panther tank was a compromise of several requirements. While it had essentially the same engine as the Tiger I tank, it had better frontal armor (including the benefit of sloping armor, increasing effective armor depth), better gun penetration, was lighter, and therefore faster, and could traverse rough terrain better than the Tigres. The compensation was weaker side armor. The Panther proved deadly in open fields and in long-range engagements, but vulnerable in close combat. More than 6,000 Panther tanks were produced between January 1943 and April 1945.
This model kit represents the latest version of the Panther tank. Around 3,000 were produced between March 1944 and April 1945. With this kit, you can assemble a Panther Ausf G with optional air cooler and rear exhaust options, with or without side armor.
